How long does therapy take?

A great question, but one that is impossible to answer before we meet and explore your needs in more depth.

Some issues require just a small handful of sessions. Others, due to their severity, may require a longer-term process.

My guiding principle is that therapy should be focused on achieving the results you are seeking in just the right number of sessions you need.

Find out more about the background to my approach.

Who do I work with?

I provide therapy for:

  • adults
  • teenagers
  • individuals
  • couples

Where does therapy take place?

For individuals I provide face-to-face therapy from my practice rooms in London and Epsom. I also offer counselling for individuals via telephone and webcam (VSee only).

For couples all therapy is face-to-face.

Choosing the right therapist

Research has shown that intangible factors such as whether you feel comfortable talking to a particular therapist play an important role in the success of therapy (over and above the specific techniques used).

So, please do feel free to call me and sound me out before booking an appointment.

Is there a free introductory session?

This seems like a great idea in principle. In practice it is rarely productive.

Seeking therapeutic help needs a genuine commitment and paying for every session is an important symbol of your commitment to yourself.

Fees per session

Please see the fees page.

Concessions

I provide concessionary rates in cases of genuine hardship. Please contact me to discuss further.

I also provide low-cost therapy on behalf of Anxiety UK – see below for AUK’s official statement:

I am an Anxiety UK Approved Therapist providing therapeutic support to the charity’s members and partner beneficiaries. I am subject to Anxiety UKs regular monitoring of my professional qualifications, supervision, continuing professional development, insurance and professional body membership in addition to complying with the ethical framework and professional standards set down by my registered governing body. Full details of the Anxiety UK Approved Therapist scheme can be found here: www.anxietyuk.org.uk/getinvolved/therapists-at-anxiety-uk
